Drinking From the Water Hose

You know the feeling of drinking out of a water hose? Your thirsty, water is moving fast, and you can’t drink it all. Ministry conferences are like that. Really, any kind of conference is that way. The quantity of information overwhelms the capabilities of our brain.

I returned from the Declare Conference last week. There were so many great speakers with so much inspiring info, I’m water-logged. The water hose was on full blast.

Enjoy a few sips:

“True worship is filtering life through His word. ~ Lara Williams

“Life is juggling balls. Work is a rubber ball. People are glass. If I must drop a ball, let it be rubber. ~ Michele-Lyn Ault

“Every little thing that comes against you, your Daddy God can handle. Don’t be afraid. Choose peace. ~ Kristin Lemus

“There is something beautiful about our stories. ~ Rachel Martin

“God longs to tell you, your identity and worth. Only my Creator gets to tell me who I am. ~ Heather MacFadyen

“Time management is not the issue. Our heart and mind are the issue. The basic lie and fear is that I am not enough. ~ Alli Worthington

“What kind of campfire am I building for others to gather around for warmth. ~ Jen Weaver

“It’s a dog eat, dog world. Cultivate those who love. Ignore the haters. ~ Susan Ramsey

“Dream with boldness. Pray with courage. Pray with my hands open, asking God to let what’s not from Him sift through my fingers. ~ Jenn Sprinkle

“Jesus turns chaos into calm. Acknowledge boundaries. They are our friends. What are mine? Figure that out and thrive within them. ~ Kat Lee

Anne Watson had several. Her title was Insecure & Overwhelmed. That is just where most of us live, isn’t it. Drink a bit from this fountain.

“Insecurity is an emotion. Belief is a choice. Do it afraid.

“Overwhelmed is insecurity’s bad first cousin.

Don’t confuse multitasking with distraction.

When I open the door to distraction, I let productivity out.

Do these resonate with you like they did with me? I took many notes (they gave us a beautiful workbook and journal), but these stood out. As I sifted and sorted through all the beautiful words I heard over the weekend, the theme I heard most (for me) was, be me and pray like the dickens for God to mold me and shape me to look more like Jesus—a better me—in His good time.

  1. I’m so thankful you chose to share these highlights! I feel as though I got some good wisdom nuggets, even though I couldn’t be there. Love these quotes, Carmen!

  2. Thanks so much for sharing these nuggets!! It’s amazing how a group of words can be so uplifting! Helps us remember how our words can bless someone else’s life!! Thanks!

  3. I’m so glad to read this! My only regret over our time stateside is that it didn’t coincide with Declare. Last summer, I arrived ONE WEEK too late (couldn’t change that) and this year, I left two months early. :) Thanks for sharing your takeaways here.
