When perfectionism steals your good
I pull each flower from the vase and adjust it just so, again. Eventually you will kill these flowers.
Living in perfect means never living in finished.
Do you recognize the neighborhood? Projects and post are left unfinished, thoughts and words God has lain on my heart to share. I can’t seem to get them just right.
Michael Hyatt (michaelhyatt.com) brings this topic to the door step of where I hang out in “perfect”. “When you sit on something until it’s “perfect”, you miss a lot of opportunities.” and “What’s useless is an idea that never gets off my hard drive.”
Ministry is wrapped up in the imperfect.
The unqualified being qualified by God. Will we be sidelined from the call on our lives waiting for a flawless presentation?
Grace is what we need. “But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weakness, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses…” God gives grace abundantly. Can we offer some to ourselves?
God needs us to be willing and obedient. When Jesus is lifted up, He draws people to Himself. We are responsible for obedience, He is responsible for the outcome. Thank you Lord!
Linking up with Holly Barrett today!
Wow! I can so identify with this article. Perfectionism is crippling.
Carolyn you are so right! I can see that in my own life and I am working with God to heal that place in me. Where did that hole come from? I’m not sure but it is a God sized hole that only He can fill. Thank you for stopping by and visiting. Please come back again soon :)
Love love love this post, Carmen! So glad of your reminder that we can lay down the dream of perfection. There is nothing and no one perfect but Him…and in Him, we find our perfection. Not in anything or anyone else. Thanks for linking up to Testimony Tuesday!
Thanks Holly for stopping by for a visit. The perfectionism trap is one I can be caught in. This first born child is always trying to make sure everything is “just right”. Yes and Amen! Our only perfection is found in Him.
I was baptized when I was 10 yrs. old in Bastrop, LA at Faith Baptist Church with my best friend Sherri Bowen Johnson. Growing up as a teenager & young adult, I hung around other people who were not Christians. I made bad choices drinking & going to bars & pills. I had 2 bad marriages, but God gave me 2 wonderful sons, Paul Young Jr & Tyler Sigler, whom I love dearly! But on Sept. 16, 2000 I was in a horrible wreck where my ex-boyfriend was driving over 70 mph in a 25 mph zone trying to scare me & ran off the road in front of my home in West Monroe & hit a tree. The tree & all of the glass fell on me splitting my brain, bladder, pelvis & whole right side of my body half into. My heart stopped 3 times & I went to the gates of heaven. I did not see Jesus, but I heard him talking & I had to tell Him my sins on earth that I was most embarrassed about. Jesus told me that He was not ready for me in heaven yet, so He was giving me a second on earth. I said Thank You Jesus, I love You! I remained in a coma for 3 1/2 months & on Dec. 25, 2000 Jesus woke me up from the coma! I was a 37 yr. old baby with 2 wonderful sons & had to relearn their names & my families & how to live on this horrible earth again. But the main thing is now I live for God Almighty/ Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit & am married to a wonderful husband Johnny Wynne who loves Jesus Christ & is a good Christian also! God Almighty/Jesus Christ is awesome!!!
Sherri you are a warrior! A survivor! Such a wonderful testimony of God’s grace and protection. God is definitely the God of second, third and …chances. He is so faithful and loving. Praise His holy name. You are with us and giving Him all glory. Thanks for sharing your story. I’m glad you stopped by for a visit. Come again soon!
