Our lawn is covered in fall leaves in our little corner of “the land of pine trees and lakes”. The covering of fall leaves is as beautiful to me as a covering of new snow. Both of them are a beautiful picture of the season they represent and if we are not careful, we will miss the opportunity to truly enjoy the changing of the seasons. Fall brings a sweet respite from the heat of summer and Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving! I have so much to be thankful for. Recently I heard a quote from a national department store chain, “One season at a time”. I agree.
The smell of a baking cake is drifting my way tonight as we prepare for family tomorrow. Our home will be filled to overflowing with people we love and our stomachs will be filled to overflowing with all the southern favorites. I’m not even going to try to figure points on all that! It is quiet and I am alone and my heart fills with joy as I think about my family and all the blessings and pure undeserved favor of God so freely given. Psalm 100 says it like this, “Shout for joy to the Lord, O earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before Him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are His. We are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness continues to each generation.” (NLT) Well said David.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Until we visit again…
Live blessed,
Carmen
